About the artist
Ieva Pachomova (b. 1997) is the artist behind the brand dega. Born and raised in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania, she has been involved in various art disciplines such as painting, music, and writing since childhood. After originally enrolling in graphic art studies in Vilnius Academy of Arts, Ieva transferred to the ceramics department, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2022.
During her studies, Ieva mainly explored ceramic surface decoration methods, specifically the overglaze technique. Her final bachelor's work Cycle was exhibited in various Lithuanian galleries.
After her studies, Ieva moved to the seaside of Lithuania, where her works became inspired by the ascetic characteristics of the Baltic coast, its minimalistic yet powerful presence, polished shapes, wavy motifs. This is how dega was born.
Dega creations reflect the flow and constant change of living nature. The shapes are unrestrained, fluid, capturing the subtle movement in large-format objects. The minimalistic color palette weaves tales about the tranquility of the pine woods, paleness of the sand dunes, simplicity of Baltic landscape, which holds the key to the harmonious being.
In her works, Ieva explores the theme of the organic relationship between man and wild nature, therefore, each work is a visual representation of how nature's motifs transferred through human consciousness become static bodies of art & function.
