Krante (On the shore in Lithuanian) vase tells the story of things washed ashore by the sea. On the shore of the Baltic Sea, especially after a storm, you can find the remains of various organisms, blackened dried algae, pieces of trees burnt by the sun and smoothed by water. On the shore, you will often find fish skeletons, colorless miniature shells, and if you are lucky, you might even find Baltic gold - amber. This one of a kind ceramic vessel is like a reflection of an object washed up by the sea. With its earthy color, unpredictable pattern and organic shape, it fits into the picture of the coastline as an indivisible part of it. The creation of the vase, like a walk on the beach, became an encounter with unexpected finds, giving freedom to the form to move in directions without over-constraining it and adventurously experimenting with glaze patterns.

This original ceramic piece is entirely handbuilt & handcrafted. The vase is lightly glazed, leaving the natural texture of rough black chamotte clay sensible. During the firing, the glaze blistered, giving a wonderful coral effect to the surface of the work. High-fired at 1200°C. Suitable for placing dried flora. Not recommended for water storage.

Dimensions: H 75cm x Ø 27cm
