Gimimas

€1,000.00

The work Gimimas (Birth/Beginning in Lithuanian) came to light in a very symbolic way, precisely at the dawn of spring, the birth of a new Sun. It is a large format monumental vase/sculpture, in its shape containing the story of the beginning, a new world, a new spring. The round shape symbolises the myth of the eternal circle of the universe that has no beginning and no end. The round form is the most organic form, a container of circulating energy, a cavity in which life arises. The last millennia of human history became the age of angular forms. These shapes, their sharp angles, measured symmetry and square rooms in which we live, learn and work, have had a direct influence on the direction of our evolution as a human race. Surrounding yourself with shapes that reflect the flow and constant change of living nature means allowing yourself to escape from the experience of reality constructed by the mind. To merge with the natural state of being. To be creative, imperfect and thus truly free.

This original ceramic piece is entirely handbuilt & handcrafted. The outside of the vase is glazed with cream-colored glaze. The surface is decorated with a pattern of hand-cut stripes. Fired at 1060°C. Suitable for placing dried flora. Not recommended for water storage.

Dimensions: H 70cm x Ø 70cm
